We're coming out, show time!

  • Hits: 1185

Life in a start-up is much about late nights and working in isolation away from people's sights, trying to turn (puffy) ideas into real life solutions. Eventually, and at some point hopefully, the hours of work start shaping into something that begins to make sense and starts bridging the imaginary world with the real world.

Today is that day. The day we're opening the door (was that a closet?) and coming out armed with courage and hope that what we have to show for will resonate with you and improve how you think about cloud computing.

The place we've chosen to unveil our project and months of work is the world-known Demo conference taking place next week in sunny California.

You can join us on Twitter and Facebook to send us your well wishes and keep updated of our Demo participation as we'll be sharing updates there.

See you next from Santa Clara. Thank you all for your ongoing support and Godspeed!

Nubefy is going places. We're expanding internationally, opening offices in Europe!

  • Hits: 1031

As just publicly announced, we are opening offices in Europe! We've chosen France as the base for our European headquarters. Not just because of their good food and wines, but also because of its central European location. If you're as excited as we are of this new step in our company development do send us a postcard, and make sure to include your address:

Nubefy
24 rue Louis Blanc
75010 Paris

On Friday 12 October, we'll do a lucky draw based on all the postcards received. The winner will receive a mystery gift. "Mystery" means we haven't figured out what gift yet, but we'll make sure it's nice. In the meantime, head-on below to read the press release:

Startup Asia Jakarta!

After a quick hop on the plane and 2-3 cups of coffee on route, Nubefy’s own Eric Meyer takes the stage to moderate Startup Asia’s panel of, “Discussion: Cloud and Entrepreneurship in Indonesia”.

Nested between a “coffee chat” and the soon to be “pitch frenzy” around the corner, we sit down with the big boys of Cloud Management for a very interesting one on one conversation.

Last week Nubefy attended a very refreshing event in Singapore called Startups in Asia. Organized by one of Asia's leading tech blog, Penn Olson. This event attracted a high number of startups from all across Asia, as well as investors, media and other reknown personalities from the tech world. We had the opportunity to take an active part in this event being in the panel discussion around cloud computing. This discussion, which you can read excerpts from here, was moderated by Dr. Serkan Toto, an independent consultant and advisor focusing on Japan’s web, mobile and social gaming industries.

As we continue the development of our platform it’s crucial that Nubefy joins and actively particpates in the main alliances that will help define the cloud computing standards of tomorrow. Today, the OVA – Open Virtualization Alliance – received much coverage as it announced strong growth in its membership, which now extends to more than 200 members globally, including Nubefy.

De-ve-lop-ment

Definitions:
1. The process of developing or being developed.
2. A specified state of growth or advancement.

For the past couple of decades, you’ve been developing into the human being you are today. As you seek for your next job opportunity, here are some things you may want to consider: Will the place I work in, allow me to freely develop and nurture my ideas? Will I actually get to develop things other than powerpoints (that other people will present and take credit for)? Will I be able to make a difference?

These are important questions. Consider that much of the development that has happened in (y)our younger years has been largely influenced by the family and social environments we’ve grown up in. Now, you have the opportunity to decide how that development continues for yourself. Do you go the large corporation route, or the start-up? Or, like us: have you gone the corporate route and not necessarily liked all of what you found? Do you want to continue on the scheduled path or go after the uncharted territory?

The cloud, one puff at a time

As we continue being hard at work on the development of our platform, we’re coming across people with whom we share our vision for cloud computing. The feedback we’re getting is very encouraging and only reinforces our belief that we’re working on resolving a real problem for many businesses. At a time when much of the work we’re doing is happening behind closed doors, it’s great to come across people who share the enthusiasm we have for cloud computing and the journey we are on. Our friends at Penn-Olson, a reputable technology blog in Asia, posted a write-up about cloud computing and the work we’re doing. Hit the link to read this post. Enjoy! Read more

Nova

Definitions:
1. a star that ejects some of its material in the form of a cloud and become more luminous in the process.
2. a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state over a few months

Whilst we are working behind closed doors for now (have patience, soon enough we will slowly start revealing what’s brewing), coming across and reading the definitions of a nova, it feels like an appropriate analogy to how we feel this Friday night.
